Cross-Like Molecule

[Jesus} is before all things, and in Him all things hold together (NIV Colossians 1:17)

In one of the presentations Louie Giglio[1] tells an amazing detail that one of the scientists shared with him. One of the essential protein molecules of our body is Laminin. In fact, laminin is a protein network foundation for our organs and cells. It influences cell adhesion and also the survival of our cells. In other words, without that tiny molecule we would not be able to survive.

But what is even more incredible about the molecule is the fact that it has the shape of the cross.

The cross of Christ is so irresistibly powerful. Jesus holds us together.

Isn’t looking for religious symbols in material world around us a bit problematic? Check out how many videos their are on YouTube of people finding Jesus in their Cheetos, toast, potato chip, clouds, etc. Do we really want to encourage this type of thinking?

The cross of Christ was a symbol of shame! Apostle Paul was, perhaps, the first who considered the cross as the token of glory. I agree that seeing religious symbols in “everything” can be a little too much. However, it can be a good metaphor. Don’t you think so?

Sure! I guess I’m just concerned that the cross can easily become a meaningless symbol just like the sanctuary system had become during the times of the prophets. To me there is a HUGE difference between the cross as Christ and the gospels portrayed it and as for example it was utilized during the Crusades! 🙂

This video is a little crude but makes an important point…

Thanks for sharing that! I agree that “the eyes sometimes see what our mind knows”. Perhaps, it is just a coincident that laminin has the shape of the cross. I think the core of the issue is that sometimes we are paying attention to symbols and forget about their true meaning. I think, that throughout the years the tradition had influenced our understanding of Christianity and its symbols. Our aim should be to peel off the layers that hinder us from seeing the real beauty of the Gospels and the Bible!
